"Granted, this was during our evacuation trip from Houston due to Hurricane Rita...A 29 HOUR TRIP (that should take 4 hours max)...lots of people were seeking hotel rooms...HOWEVER, we were very displeased with the staff and their refusal to grant access to the rooms reserved online two days prior to my parents who arrived 2 hours prior to our arrival ALTHOUGH THEY HAD THE CONFIRMATION NUMBERS WRITTEN DOWN AND THE FRONT DESK STAFF SPOKE TO US BY CELL PHONE TO CONFIRM. We were only granted access to the rooms after we arrived with a copy of the confirmation email in hand. My parents were originally told their were no rooms and that internet reservations were not being honored?!? We even tried to call the hotel approximately 10 times during the day to report our late arrival due to the horrendous traffic conditions & the phone was NEVER ANSWERED! The staff was very rude and unaccommodating. We did not receive maid service the first day & had to call for extra towels. After receiving maid service the second day we were told that NO towels were available due to the high occupancy of the hotel and were told to check back later. We called at about 2 p.m. and then again at 7 p.m. No towels were delivered. My husband finally retrieved towels from the front desk about 9 p.m. No washcloths were available. The shower in room #340 let out only a small amount of water and virtually no hot water. The ice machine around the corner required about 10 minutes to fill up the ice bucket. The "wireless internet connection" was only available in the lobby area & went out intermittently. The staff did not appear to know how to fix the problem. The guest laundry facility only had one washer and dryer for use. The check out process was slow and laborious. I travel for business throughout Texas & was very happy to have a hotel room of any kind during this difficult evacuation trip; however, will NOT return to this particular hotel again. On a good note, the national marketing director, Richard, was helpful."

"We realize that this was an unusual circumstance with all the evacuees from Houston area coming in (of which we were in that number). When we arrived after 26 hours on the road from our home to Austin, our reservations could not be found (included with those made by our daughter/son-in-law for us), so we had to wait 2 hours in the lobby - until after 2:00 a.m., for our daughter and her family to arrive; they had gotten delayed behind us, and she had the email confirmation from your hotel's website. I realize that this hotel's staff were overworked, tired, and obviously very understaffed if someone had to work 36 hours straight as we were told, but they showed absolutely no concern or compassion for us. The only saving grace was Richard, the national marketing manager, who was there from Boca Raton, who sat with us and tried to find our reservation and generally made us feel better. Every time we saw him during our time there he inquired about our stay, and made us feel like he cared. I'm sure he probably was there to troubleshoot with the added burden of a full hotel. As I said, it was obvious that the hotel was not prepared to ever be full - not enough staff, including housekeeping; not enough towels-when our rooms were finally cleaned we received no towels until 10:00 p.m. in the evening after asking twice. And the towels were very rough and grimy in color. The ladies restroom in the lobby was dirty and no change the second day - same stains on toilet seats. One other thing we notice which would help improve the hotel would be to maintain the yards - the shrubs needed trimming, the yard needed mowing, and obviously had not been fertilized or watered on a regular basis during the summer. The flags on the poles out in front of the lobby are faded and tattered, and badly need to replaced to give a better first impression, although we weren't really concerned about that when we first came in! When we checked out, while the clerk was very nice, he couldn't really figure out when we checked in! We explained to him that we came in on Thursday night (after midnight), 9/22, and were there for four nights, and that the last 3 nights had been paid for through priceline.com, so he charged our credit cards for the first night, which was correct as far as we can tell from reading all the entries on the bill - very confusing statement. On looking at our receipt later, it showed that we checked in on 9/21! (We did not leave Houston area until 10:30 p.m. on the 21st.) As far as I can tell we were only charged for the one night, but will wait until our credit bill comes in to confirm this. A lot needs to be done to train staff at this hotel how to handle unusual circumstances and to be prepared (enough towels, staff, etc.) for a full hotel. Hope all this makes sense. Sandra & Jim Meek, Pearland, Texas (reservations made by Laurel & Jim Spence, Pearland)"
