"The bedsheets were not clean. I also wondered whether or not my towel had been washed. The price is good if you bring a sleeping bag and towel."

"We appreciate a lot the air conditionner and the fridge in the room. The bathroom were outside but we never had to wait to take a shower. We were lucky to find a parking space in the street right in front of the hotel. Personal were very friendly."

"Dirty lining on the bed."

"This "hotel" was unlike anything that I have ever seen. It was dirty and disgusting and in the middle of no where at the end of a deadend road. The halls were narrow, the elevator was from the seventeenth century and the doors to the bedrooms didn't even latch. We walked down these old carpeted hallways, passing the bathroom that the whole floor uses on the way. When we reached our room we were disgusted by a room with a dirty bed, windows that wouldn't shut, do to bad frame work, and a old fashion heater that we couldn't shut off. When going to the bathroom NEXT DOOR, I realized that there was a clogged toilet, that looked like it had been like that for a while, and a old fashion bathtub with a shower curtain that would either cover the window that wouldn't shut or the door that anyone could walk in at anytime. So needless to say after one night of listening to the residents scream and the pipes that were sticking out of the ceiling and using the restroom across the hall, my party and I were quick to check out of that hotel, after hunting the Yellow Pages, and paying for a room we hadn't even seen. So obviously in my opinion the hotel was trash, and the only other people that I witnessed staying there were residents and foreigners. This "hotel," or room with slanted walls, windows that were unable to be shut, an uncontrolable heater and a bathroom down the hall was an experience that I would never put myself through again. So please take my advice and save yourself, there is an awesome hotel that is very decent in price in between 5th and 6th Ave. on 46th St., so if you need a hotel look there, it's a lot better location, and quaility."

"At first glance, from the outside this hotel looks quite old, nondescript - nothing special or glamorous. But once inside, the service is friendly and professional. The room we had was crisp and clean, recently painted and spacious. We had to share a bathroom which, for the most part, was clean. The daily cleaning service was excellent. My daughter (11 years old) had a sore foot and stayed in the hotel alone for a day, and the staff was very attentive to her needs. The traffic from the Riverside freeway can be noisy, but becomes white noise after a while. The hotel is close to subway entrances, many wonderful bakeries, deli's, good restaurants, a MacDonalds and a Starbucks, banks etc. It is walking distance to upper Broadway (Tower Records) and Columbus Ave with it's quirky shops and restaurants. As far as hotels for the budget-conscious traveller go, this must surely rate as one of the cheapest (but not sordid) and best deals in New York. We really enjoyed our stay."

"This is a budget hotel. It has a good location, close to subway. This is the kind of room you want to save money, and basically will just be sleeping in the room."

"As this hotel was only $80, i.e. more than cheap for NYC, I didn't expect too much. From there I wouldn't complain about anything. The hotel (i.e. the room and the shared bathrooms) was clean, so this was OK. Sure, the hotel could need some work, but then you had to pay more and it wouldn't be a budget hotel any longer. I would recommend this hotel only to the very budget traveler who is just after a place to stay and nothing more. As a hotel on the Upper West side it's not next to Times Square, but with less then two blocks from the next subway it takes not too long to get there."

"It is right next to the freeway, traffic was audible all night. If I was a light sleeper, it would have been impossible to sleep. Also, though I stayed on a Friday night to Saturday morning, I was not prepared for people shouting loudly and rudely in the streets at 4:30AM, which did wake me up. The amenities were subpar. I was glad it was only 50 degrees outside, because it did not look like there was heat in the room. I knew I was getting a $50 per night hotel in NYC, but I was not quite prepared for having to bring toilet paper and towels from my room to the bathroom down the hall. If I forgot...shudder... Buyer beware!!!"
