"After checking in - fairly fast for a tourist week evening - I got to my room (#860, a standard king bed room, great view, soft bed, roomy closet, desk area, nice bathroom) and saw a mouse (yes, a MOUSE) running from the bed area to behind the TV and then back again. I called the front desk, and they said to come down for a new room assignment. They were very apologetic (as they should have been!) and gave me a very roomy suite (#632) on the other side of the hotel. The suite had a kitchen area, living room, standard hotel TV setup, with dining room area suitable for a board meeting, with bathroom close by, large closets. There was a large separate bedroom with king bed, its own bathroom, average closet, ironing board, extra pillows/blankets, TV wasn't working. The suite was essentially a large 1-bedroom apt. Other than the mouse, the stay was fine. In general, the furnishings are comfortable, but a bit run down and in need of upgrade. My dinner in the Jack Tar Bar & Grill off the lobby was very good (salmon with buttermilk mashed potatoes, $32 including tip). Breakfast (Santa Fe omelette) from the restaurant across from the elevators was very good as well - great crispy hashbrowns, hot toast, 3 little tubs of jelly, a small catsup bottle for the eggs, generous servings ($11.50 to go, no tip). Check out was via the in-room automatic TV-computerized check out. Very fast, but had to stop by the front desk for a copy of the billing. Would be better to have the choice for mailing a receipt part of the computerized system. So giving the hotel the benefit of the doubt for the mouse situation, the stay was fine. Although how a mouse got to the 8th floor is a mystery. Perhaps it traveled with a tourist? Perhaps it came inside the TV when it was brought from some other location, in the basement perhaps? Don't know, of course..."
