"The hotel is not in the main centre of Tromso, and this walk takes about 40 minutes. However the buses are frequent, and there are some shops near the hotel. By far though, the best feature of the hotel is its views along the fjord and across to Kvaloya, which are far superior to any on the other side of the Island. Our stay was for 3 days over midsummers day, and during this time the hotel did not lose the sun at any point. I would suggest staying at the Scandic and hiring a car, as a means of convenience and discovering the surrounding area. The staff, like almost everyone we met in Norway, were friendly, extremely helpful, and spoke better English than many Brits that I know !!"
