"The Avenida seems to be the only hotel in San Sebastian with a swimming pool, which was very welcome in the July heat! The rooms are not air-conditioned, which was quite uncomfortable. There is an electric fan in the room, so we had this on non-stop. As it was our honeymoon, and we were staying for a week, we specifically requested a room with a double-bed and a sea-view. The first room we were given had twin beds, the second room had no sea view. The third room had both. The staff have limited English. There are no curtains in the room, so you had to keep rolling the shutters up and down, which was slightly inconvenient. The buffet breakfast was quite plentiful. However, many of the food items were quite "processed", instead of being fresh (croissants, juice, fruit). There is no bar or restaurant at the hotel, but they provide a room in which you can eat your own purchased food. There is no microwave in the room, however. The Avenida is on the side of Monte Igeldo. This means that there are good views, but it's a steep walk up! The hotel is on the other side of the bay from the Old Town, and the shopping area. The 16 bus passes by every 30 minutes. This finishes around 10.30pm. It's approximately five to six Euro for a taxi back from the Old Town at night."
