Introduction
Middle Franconia (Mittelfranken) is divided into the seven districts shown in the right-hand map below. Towns and cities are listed by district and hotel information is accessed by clicking on the location of interest.

The Romantische Stra├če (Romantic Road) passes through picturesque Bavarian towns with well-preserved historic centers. The 250 mile long road starts at W├╝rzburg in the north and runs south to F├╝ssen. It is Germany's premiere road of its kind. The section that runs through Middle Franconia includes the jewel of the Road, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, whose wall and Altstadt have remained practically untouched since the Middle Ages.

Nuremberg with a half million population is Bavaria's number two city. The first visit in town would be to the Old City with its castle, parts of it dating back to the 11th century. The "N├╝rnberg Card" provides free admission to museums and attractions and free travel on all public transport.

The 1000 year old nearby city of F├╝rth had a flourishing Jewish Community durig the Middle Ages.

Franconian Lake District in the Wei├čenburg-Gunzenhausen District has excellent recreational facilities for water sports, biking and hiking. There are seven lakes less than 20 miles southwest of Nuremberg. The resort towns are Gunzenhausen, Hilpoltstein, Herrieden and Allersberg.

In the Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim District Neustadt is a picturesque town with a turbulent history. It was destroyed during the Thirty Years War and was the scene of one of the first terror attacks on Jews, very early on during the Nazi regime. Bad Windsheim is a charming historic town known for its thermal bath.
