The First Arrondissement is composed of the following quarters:
Place VendĂ´me - Rue de Rivoli and nearby Place VendĂ´me with their fashionable hotels, shops and bars.
Palais Royal - Here is the palace that was the seat of French royalty prior to their move to Versailles
Halles - Châtelet-Les-Halles, the hub of the Métro and RER commuter rail systems.
St-Germain l'Auxerrois - Named after the 13th century church on the Place du Louvre. The quarter includes the magnificent Louvre Museum and the Jardin des Tuileries. On the grounds of the Jardin is the Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume, a museum of world renown.
