The coastline of this region is known as the C么te d'Azur or French Riviera - the ultimate world-class travel destination. Western Mediterranean cruises all stop at Villefranche-sur-Mer for quick visits to Nice and Monte Carlo.
Aside from Cannes, Nice and Monte Carlo which are the primary tourist attractions, there are many more popular seaside resorts. Access is provided via the Nice-C么te d'Azur Airport (NCE), located near St-Laurent-du-Var, a few kms west of Nice and High-Speed Rail.
30 miles north of Nice is the southern end of the 10,000 foot high Maritime Alps. The alpine Mercantour National Park is a paradise for hikers in the summer and skiers in the winter.
Sophia Antipolis, a few miles north-west of Antibes, has been dubbed the "French Silicon Valley." It's a technology park whose occupants are major computer, electronics and biotech companies.
