"-Friendly front office staff -friendly cleaners Location very ideal, convenient to transport methods accessibility -HOWEVER, meals arrangements should be organized because foreigners like myself will find themselves going hungry if they have to arrange their own meals!!!!"

It's time to really clean up .
"It Was not so pleasant being in there . Hotel needs some serious remodeling , paint and etc. Just did not feel clean walls mark up ,room smells air conditioning unit had mold around it ,this was terrible!"

"A good hotel close to almost all attractions of NYC, confortable, safe, and economic. If you arrive by train, just cross the street and you will be in front of the hotel's main doors."

"I paid 345 $ per night Including & it was a ripp off. The breakfast wasnt included the room of my choice was not avaliable it took me 1 hr to check in at the hotel which was frustating & tiring after a 16 hr flight from Mumbai INDIA. I would say Big Hotel with Big name not moneys worth-Bobby"

"Some rooms are better than others. Originally on the 13th floor, room had a musty smell and matress spring problem caused me to move room to the 2nd floor, much larger and citrus aroma filled room (why can't they use this in all rooms?). Very handy for Penn Station and links to the Metro. Reception usually very busy, queues often at peak times. Don't expect New York to be a quiet place to stay. I stayed in 3 different Hotels during my stay and all were subject to the noise from traffic and Emergency service sirens at all hours of the day, but what the hell New York is definately a 24 hour city."
Christopher from Fokkestone, GB rated Hotel Pennsylvania New York 8 out of 10 on October 09, 2004
"The appearance of the 7th floor where I stayed with stains from water leaks on the ceiling in the corridor and in the room was terrible. The room was not cleaned properly, the matress on the bed was worn out and uneven. Also the cleaning personnel started talking very loud among themselves and on their pagers in the corridor from early in the morning. The quality of the hotel overall was very much below all my expectations, but I am not complaining as I got a really low rate (I felt very lucky when I did but I don't any more after having completed my stay - it is just okay for this rate, not a penny more)."

"1.The line to check in was more than a city block long. 2.There was a super-sized cockroach in the bathroom. 3.When this problem was (politely) brought up downstairs, a vague response about the possibility of an exterminator coming by was made. 4.The iron in the room seemed to have been used on plastic or something else that permanently melted onto it. 5. The iron and ironing board we requested were not brought until the following day. 6. The very long walk from elevator to room gave the impression that the place is not kept up and has seen much better days. 7. Definitely not worth the "low" prices. 8. If you can avoid it, DO!!!"
Verified Guest from Brooklyn, NY US rated Hotel Pennsylvania New York 2 out of 10 on May 19, 2004
"I was told that I had a renovated room, but I don't know what, if anything, was renovated. The bathroom was disgusting. There was no bathtub; there was also no towels in my room. When I double checked that i had a renovated room the customer service rep told me that the hotel was only a 2-star hotel and asked me what I expected! The bed spread had a hole in it, the carpet was unvacuumed, the ironing board cover was old, burned and stain, and the paint was peeling. When I went to check out, the lady ahead of me also expressed that she had had the worst experience ever at this hotel, and the when she called to get a new room or anything else, the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. I have stayed in other 2-star hotels (i.e. Fairfield Inn) and my experience was never like this. This was the worst hotel experience of my life."
Chantelle from New York, NY US rated Hotel Pennsylvania New York 2 out of 10 on May 19, 2004
"My experience was very negative. It was not the cleanest It was noisy and the staff was not the greatest. I was quite shocked sinced I have stayed at other hotels in New York and my stay was always pleasant. I had asked someone to come and fix my blind because it was not opening properly and after three calls someone did come and try to fix it...however while he was in the room he literally stepped on my bed with his shoes on and tried to fix it.He never did ,said he would send someone, never did and I ended up through the whole weekend clipping the blind open with my hairclip. I founf that a little weird. The ONLY advantage this hotel has is the location...but unfortunatly I will never recommend it to a friend ."

"As a place to sleep and little else, it will do, but don't count on reliable or consistent housekeeping or much of anything else for that matter. I got stuck here in a bind, and nearly switched just because it's gross, but decided in the end that I could still have fun out in the city, just as long as I avoided my hotel."

"The hotel badly needs to renovate more of its rooms. We requested two beds, but ended up with one double bed (thankfully I was sharing the room with my sister!) The location is extremely convenient, but be aware that it is not a top of the line hotel."

"customer service was EXTREMELY poor. upon check-in the lighting inside my room did not work. when I brought this issue to the receptions counter, to my amazement, she ASKED me if i would like her to send someone up there to fix it. i replied "no, ill stay in the dark for 3 days" there shouldnt have been a question."

"They stated the room was renovated 4 years ago; however, the rooms were old, bathtub dirty, refrigerator raggedy and dirty. The chair in the room filthy. The room they switched me to had a very old shower that was all peeled and old, cockroach in my room, refrigerator nasty and the room very small. Customer service was less than nice. Would not recommend this 1 star hotel. The halls had patch work on the walls and some were torn out. The bathroom wall had holes in it from a missing towel bar. Moreover, there was no linen when I arrived in either room."
