Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort is just the best!
"This hotel resort is the best at Disney, Orlando, FL. the rooms are beautifully decorated in the African Theme and the music chimed into the Mara restaurant of African nature is perfect for the setting. The wonderful view of the animals roaming the grounds is awesome! We have stayed here a few times and hope to return next year with our daughter and son-n-law."

"The minute we arrived there were valets standing around talking to each other but not welcoming us and asking if we were there to check in. NO direction given by them whatsoever. So we parked under the roof outside off to the side and went in to check in only to be told by someone else in our party that we were told to move our cars. There were no signs telling us what to do and as I stated valets were just standing around talking to each other and not directing us. Any hotel we have ever stayed at you park under the roof out front. THAT could certainly use some attention since it is your first impression of a hotel. I went and moved the car over to a parking area with all of our bags still inside the car. Again, no one spoke to us or helped us in any way. Absolutely impossible to eat at anything other than the cafeteria type restaurant the Mara. Reservations are obviously the only way to go and you need to make them WAY in advance of your stay to eat at the hotel's other restaurants. We were not told of this and could not believe the people who are NOT guests of this hotel that were able to eat there. Who knows that far in advance where they will be for dinner? I think reservations should go to guests of the hotel first. After all they are paying the big bucks to stay there. The only option after a long day of waiting and walking is to stand in line yet again at The Mara. Tired feet are not interested in leaving the hotel again and more walking to transportation to yet another park for more walking. These restaurants are not large enough to accomodate the size of this resort and the capacity of guests they hold. Also couldn't help notice that the bus transportation is soooooo far away from the main entrance to the hotel. As a guest after a long day of walking and waiting to be dropped off that far from the main entrance and have to walk so far and then of course the miles long walk to the rooms. Someone should have thought this out a little better. We also noticed every time we boarded a bus for this hotel it was the last bus stop at every park. Not condusive to making guests comfortable and their walk to and from any easier. I would not recommend this place to anyone who has any difficulty after a long day at the parks."

"Our room was great but the the bathroom stunk. Where toilet was, it didn't seem that it was being cleaned well. One other thing, the sink on the right side was not draining well. I loved the hotel, it was gorgeous but the room we stayed in Rm. 4322 was quite a walk from the front. There wasn't any elevator that was close enough."
Annabelle from Fairfield, CA US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 6 out of 10 on September 10, 2006
"What a wonderful experience. From a service and comfort perspective, almost everything was perfect, and having the African animals roaming outside was so special for me and the kids. I have two minor complaints: first it was a long walk from our room to to get anywhere (restaurant, reception, bus terminal, etc), second it seemed like anytime we walked outside we had to pass through a smoking area."

"Would like to commend the Housekeeping staff. Making animals out of the towels was a real winner with my family!! What a great idea and showed that they did more than just clean the rooms - great imagination!"

"First set of sheets were dirty and had to asked to have them changed. Fast food area sells bottels of wine but staff is not equipet to open the bottels, no decent openers provided, staff was accomidating in running to kitchen to get it done but held up the entire line & I felt bad for holding up everyone. Food was cold by the time I got to sit down. Styrofoam should not be used in an "enviromentaly friendly atmosphere."

"The hotel was very nice and exactly what I expected. However, it is difficult to recommend it unless someone is not at all concerned about cost. The cost was exhorbitant. Of course I knew that going in. I decided to do one night just for fun, but there is no way i could justify staying a week at $400 a night for a small room."

"My daughter and I liked the hotel and theme. My only suggestion would be to turn up the lights throughout the hotel lobbies and eating areas. It always seemed so dim. Also I think you need to have some type of a coffee area in the main lobby area."
Amy from Wabash, IN US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 8 out of 10 on October 30, 2005
"Fantastic lobby design. Great restaurants in the hotel. The animals are the differentiators. You should commit more resources to African history, culture, nature, music, etc. in the gift shop in addition to the regular Disney stuff."

"The only thing that made me unconfortable and surprised was that you DIDN"T HAVE HIGH SPEED INTERNET ACCESS. I did had to check my emails and was very unconvinient, slow and expensive with dial up. I can't bielieve a fine hotel in the US doesn't have internet access."
Jessica from New York, NY US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 8 out of 10 on September 01, 2005
"The hotel is very nice and well maintained. We were a little unhappy because of check-in. We were exhausted from a morning in the sun at the parks and made it to the hotel right at 3:00 for check-in. We had to wait for a little over 30 minutes for our room to be ready with the Savannah view. Although it doesn't seem like a very long time, being stranded with all of our belongings packed (and a 4 year old) 35 minutes after 4 hours in 100 degree heat was a pretty big inconvenience. Nice hotel, though and we enjoyed our stay once we checked in to our room."

"Prior to my visit, I tried to add a day to my trip, but I could not get hold of someone at the hotel. The process you put potential customers through to make reservations is ridiculous and I would not do it again. All numbers end up routing you to a centralized reservations center, which I found frustrating, as I wanted to speak with someone about getting adjoining rooms, which the centralized reservation center couldn't assist with."
Kathleen from Atlanta, GA US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 4 out of 10 on May 29, 2005
"Rooms super expensive and very small with no modern feel. Animal viewing was almost non-existant, a super dissapointment to the kids. This hotel is WAY" over-priced and I would never recommend it to anyone."

"Two things: needs more treadmills in the gym. guests were practically fighting over the three that were there. Need to open the gym earlier to alleviate the congestion. Dining reservation system is a nightmare for people who like to have some flexibility in their vacations. We were told we couldn't be seated in the hotel's restaurants because we failed to make priority seating reservations! How could a hotel restaurant fail to serve its own guests???? Then, when we made the reservations, we ended up waiting to be seated anyway. Meanwhile, half the tables in the restaurants were empty."

"We ate in the restuarant Jika. I ordered the filet Mignon (med.) it arrived at my table and I cut a piece from it. placed it in my mouth and instantly tatsed as if I had a nose bleed. I checked the meat and it was barely rare. The staff...once they came around, were very apologetic, even the soux chef came to my table to offer to fix it or prepare something else. I skipped dinner that night but they seemed genuinely sorry. It is the worst meal in recent memory. We checked out a day early."
Jim from Fort Lauderdale, FL US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 8 out of 10 on April 17, 2005

"We arrived on December 30 in the evening and found there were no restaurants avilable for that night or the next night. On New Year's Eve we were lucky to get into the Rainforest Cafe at 5:15, and the other night we ate at your food court (not the best food!). I think you should give guests priority on those nights so people just arriving have somewhere to eat with decent food."

"Booked via Internet, requested Savannah view. Arrived at check in..NO SAVANNAH rooms were booked. So we had to re-do the whole thing .took approx 1/2 hour. Personnel was excellent..but screw up with the booking...that should be corrected.."
Gerd from Cape Coral, FL US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 7 out of 10 on January 01, 2005
"We would have enjoyed to stay more nights at the hotel but the price was too high for us to afford 5-6 nights. We could only stay 2. It is a shame it is so expensive. The only other issue was that of the dining...more so with the reservation system...I believe if you are staying at a certain resort, you should have the privilage of being able to dine at any of the restaurants. We tried booking Jiko for 2 days and it was really difficult. We were put on a waiting list and eventually we were called but we couldn't make plans to do anything else and had to sit in our room waiting. It seems if you book a room you should be able to eat onsite at the nicest restaurants.....we did pay a high amount for our room and deserved more of an effort from the resort. That may be something you can work on. A family should not have to call and make reservations weeks in advance prior to their stay just to eat. This placed us in a very uncomfortable situation and slightly tarnished our experience. Please work on that. Otherwise, everything was very nice and the sites were spectacular."

"The TV Cabinet door was broken, and the bathroom was a little dirty, but other than that I enjoyed my stay. I just thought Disney was on top of broken furniture more than the average hotel."

"We had a great stay, really enjoyed the hotel and Disney in general. One thing that was dissapointing, we went to Downtown Disney and had lunch at Fultons Crab house which was really poor, the food and service. Its standards really seemed lower than other Disney restaurants."

"Thoroughly enjoyed this trip and stay the best!!!!! We've been many times to Disney and have stayed in many Disney Resorts, this outshined all of them. I just wish it was more affordable to visit more often."
Elaine from Coral Springs, FL US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 9 out of 10 on October 17, 2004
"What an achievement for Disney. We were expecting it to be very commercial and were really pleased to see how authentic it was. It showed great respect for the African culture and opened our minds to the art, music, and architecture of Africa. I was truly, truly impressed and moved by the architecture, interior design, and art of the hotel. The staff was lovely too. It was a bastion of calm after a day in the parks. And I haven't even mentioned the amazing views of the Savannah. What a treat. What a delight. Great job - congratulations to all the people who so clearly put heart and soul into this project."
Eric from Venice, FL US rated Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge 9 out of 10 on October 14, 2004
"On the whole, this was an excellent value. For the price, the amenities were top shelf and the staff was excellent. The only suggestion I might make is that there really should be a greater variety in food choices. The selection at the Mara was ok but did not change from day to day. The sit down restaurant was a bit pricey for people with children and the buffet, while affordable was a bit lacking in selection. The room service breakfast menu was excellent but the dinner choices were limited. That's it though. We will definitely plan on staying here again next time:-)"
