Many lodgers praised the hotel's location, finding it close to downtown Sacramento, Old Town Sacramento, shopping, restaurants, museums, highway access and the State Capital. One guest remarked, "You are right there on the Delta King... watching sea lions, birds, ducks, geese, turtles, trains, boats and all the passers by. The only place to stay when visiting Old Sacramento".
The hotel's staff was the source of numerous compliments by reviewers, who found them friendly, helpful and accommodating. One patron noted, "We immediately encountered great customer service at the valet and from an employee at the dock who saw us walking the boarding platform with our bags and immediately stopped to open the doors [and] offer assistance and directions. We found out later that she was a maid. Check-in was smooth".
