"While the hotel itself was very nice, I was disappointed by the service and the attitude of the staff. It did not feel like the Mexico I know and love. For example, it took two phone calls and several hours to get our bags up to our room. Also, when I asked a housekeeping worker to make sure our room got made up since we had missed the morning rounds, he looked at me and said "it´s not on my list". There was no chalk for the pool table, and instead of trying to find some or explaining why it was impossible to get any, the bartender just said that there was none. That´s it. So, we could not play pool with all the miscues going on. They did not serve fresh juice at the bar, just juice in boxes, which is ridiculous considering the easy availability of fresh fruit in Mexico. Nobody came to our palapas to take drink orders, which is a luxury offered by even the most modest beach palapa restaurants in Mexico. The drinks at the bar and the juice from the restaurant were overpriced, and no drinking water was available unless we wanted to spend 3$ a bottle at the bar for the smallest size (no big bottles on sale). So, I had to run out in the heat and buy big bottle to keep in our refrigerator. In the past I have stayed in hotels that cost 30$ a night, and feel that I was attended to better at those hotels than at this "luxury" hotel. I would not return to this hotel unless I paid an all inclusive rate, and even then, the service really was not outstanding."
