"The hotel was very clean and the ammenities were reasonable (albeit the rooms were quite small), but they completely dropped the ball on service for a so-called 4-star hotel. Things started off on the wrong foot with the no valet present when we arrived, with another car had blocking the entrance. We get to the main desk and they want me to go back outside and find the license plate of my rental car -- I didn't have to do this at the Calgary Eau Claire Sheraton. Why can't they do this -- this is supposed to be 4 stars. Next we had to fight our way past food carts and trays of ice buckets in the elevator -- it looked like the back of the hotel in the main hallway. They should have used service elevators and leave the main elevators for guests. The presence of a big group shouldn't impact my experience at the hotel. We get to the room, to find 2 queen beds instead the king we wanted. I had noted this as a special request, if they could fill it. No problem conceptually that they didn't have any kings left, but they should have communicated that they couldn't meet that request and offer me the option to buy up to a suite. Going out to dinner, the concierge did a good job recommending an Italian restaurant in town, but failed to inform me that he succeeded in securing a reservation -- because we hadn't yet been entered in the phone system. Who's fault is that? Finally, we ordered a pay-per-view movie (from a very small selection) only to find the video quality frequently breaking up. So 70 minutes into the movie we call the front desk to see if they can fix it. They tell us there's nothing they can do, only refund our money. Hence they did so and it killed our movie right then and there. 4 stars this place is not. Comfortable, yes. Worth the money, no."

"The hotel and staff were excellent! This was our first time skiing in Banff and the hotel staff were very helpful in explaining where to ski, the layout, and how things worked. They suggested various restaurants, places to shop, gave instructions on how to get wherever we wanted to go. The hotel restaurant and bar was very nice, and the people and service was excellent. We're coming back on our Thanksgiving holidays later this year, as well as next year for Spring Break. This time we will stay longer. Many, many thanks! Carrie Riley"

"the timer is rather loud on the fireplace; but not terrible. The grotto pool water was very hot on our second day, couldn't stay in longer than just a few minutes, also needed towels in the swimming pool. Everything else was just perfect! Loved the down bedding and the bathrooms!"

"Hotel was about a 5 mins walk from the shops and restuarants. On arrival we were given an upgrade of our room to a suite. This was a great surprize and was very comfortable and luzurious. It made our stay in Banff a wonderful experience."

"During our stay at the hotel, we had left for a few hours to go shopping and had left the window slightly open with the curtains open as well. Came back a few hours later, and someone had been in our room. Window and curtains were closed. So a staff member of the hotel was in our room while we were gone and I did not find this very appropriate, I feel that they went against our privacy. Also wasn't very happy that your website listed this hotel rate as being US dollars and not Canadian. I looked online at another hotel that stated the rate in Canadian dollars. It would be nice to see some consistency as I thought I was paying $180 when really that was US dollars and I actually paid $231 Canadian. Will not be staying at your hotel again!!!!"

"Pro¡s: Newer Hotel (buildt approx. 2000) Nice and large rooms (Junior suite) Close to Banff town centre (best little town in the Rockys) Very good food in the restaurant Friendly staff almost no charge for heated car parking Con¡s: No heating in the bathroom - Hey! It has been winter time in Canada! Understaffed during high times - e.g. impacts response time of service in hotel and restaurant Bar is not of interest Summary: we liked it and would take it again"

"The Royal Canadian was a nice, boutique-style hotel, small enough that it was quaint, but didn't feature as many ammenities as the resorts. That said, the restaurant is supposed to be wonderful, the staff was excellent and they even included a bottle of champagne! We were on our honeymoon...a solid experience."

"I feel like we made a great choice at this hotel. The security of the underground parking with a prox card made me feel that my car was safe, and it was very nice to be able to park so close to the elevators. Air Condition, food, service were excellent. They even cleaned my windshield on my car at night, so my view was excellent the next day. I think they show that they go the extra mile!"

"The parking was quite expensive (20 dollars a night) and it was nog mentioned when we booked the hotel. The spa-area was closed for the majority of our stay. On the door it said that it would 'open within a few hours', but this sign was kept up for nearly three days!!"

"I feel the cost of the Hotel could be a bit less and especially the restaurant in the Hotel."
