The 4 star Casa da Moura is situated inside the ramparts and scarcely within 5 minutes walking distance of the town centre of Lagos. It was built from an existing building using all the front parts of the building on the ground floor; the manor house has a height of 4 meters from floor level to ceiling; wood lined ceilings; wide corridors plus stone and wooden floors. Its construction dating back from 1892 it belongs to a local wealthy family. For many years it was occupied by members of this family however in the 1950s and 1970s it was the old headquarters of the Portuguese Legion. However in the last few years it has been abandoned. The geographical position facing the Moorish ramparts to the north and to the south Cardeal Neto Street is connected to the ancient Largo das Freiras -the nuns Square which is part of the Nossa Senhora da Gloria Convent. The historic heritage of the town of Lagos is very much published in tourist maps and is therefore part of the walking route of many tourists. We tried to include this project in the cultures that were left in this region by the Hispanic moors as these cultures are an integral part of the people of the Algarve. Owing to the fact that a great part of the materials used in the construction of Casa da Moura were imported from Morocco the project has been entirely respected. Our objective is to practice and serve quality Tourism. All rooms have different interior colors.
