The cosiest hotel in Rome
"Elite Hotel is a small and very cosy hotel placed right in the centre of Rome. You can walk to all the known places and you are not depending on a bus home. The Metro is close and The Spanish Stairs are almost next to the hotel. The staff is friendly and helpfull and we loved to stay at this 2* hotel. I wish it would never be modernized."

"The location of the Elite Hotel is absolutely fantastic, nestled in between the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps (two minutes walk from the subway). For sight-seeing and for shopping, you probably won't find a more convienient or safe spot. However, if you think you will be staying at a hotel, think again. Although I have no huge complaints about the Elite, it should not be advertised as a hotel, but rather as a hostle or as appartments to let. The reason I say this is because there were actually flats on the top floor; a hair dressers above reception and it didn't feel like you were in a hotel at all - but rather renting a flat...in which case it was a bit over-priced! And don't think you'll get a view...all rooms face a dingy yard in the centre of a block. The decor is dated and needs urgent attention. In fact, I doubt it had received a lick of paint since the sixties or seventies! The bathroom was very small and although they say the room comes with a bath and shower, don't be deceived - the tub is about 3 foot by 2 foot and has a ledge with barely enough room to sit into it! And the shower-head is not hooked onto the wall either, so you'll have to hold it. The bath towels, or should I say tea-towels (!), will not dry you - so bring your own; and the rooms don't have safety deposit boxes - so be wary of bringing large sums of cash. Overall, the place is very basic, so don't expect much. My trip was still a great one - partly because of the Elite...because I hated going back to the place, I stayed out most of the time and got to see so much!!! Bottom line - if location is all you care about, the Elite is probably for you; if you like your creature comforts, stay well clear of this one!"
