Until the late 19th Century, Brooklyn was an entirely separate city. The construction of the Brooklyn Bridge, and later the Manhattan Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge, not to mention the numerous Subway lines, made it instantly accessible to lower Manhattan -- making a merger with the commercial and the Wall Street financial center inevitable.
While Brooklyn continued to serve as the major residential and industrial Boro of the City it became increasingly overshadowed by the skyscraper skyline of Manhattan. Toward the very end of the 20th Century the borough of Brooklyn experienced an incredible renaissance, and began to rival the City in both its appeal and its importance.
The Pointe Plaza Hotel is located in a historic Brooklyn neighborhood just across the East River from lower Manhattan, with excellent Subway connection to the City and close proximity to the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge and Williamsburg Bridge, not to mention the Brooklyn waterfront.
