"The first night I was given a smoking room that was unbearable although my confirmation (in hand!) said non-smoking. They claimed it came to them as 'no preference'. Moved to a slightly less offensive room and the second day to a non-smoking room in which the bathroom had no direct source of heat and a leaky window, and therefore (partly because of record cold weather) too cold to actually use the shower. The shower was arranged in such a way that you couldn't turn it on to warm up before getting in. Heat in the room was effective but noisy. The doorman seemed to double as bellman and was not always available for things like hailing cabs - a critical feature since this hotel is not close enough to most things. One bellman was attentive. Front desk staff were pleasant but somewhat ineffective (based on first night). The decor and linens were nice."
