"There were a couple of negative encounters for me. I was called and asked to come to front desk. Manager told me they would be charging me 50 pounds more for each night because they didn't know there were 2 people in my room. I said I'd check my email from this hotel that was in my room. She put a sheet in front of me saying her records show only one person. I brought my email down to show her 1 adult and 1 child showed us staying for 115 pounds per night. She appologized but I felt upset and embarrassed. I feel she could have approached the problem differently. Had I not had my email, I would be out 200 pounds without my proof. On Tues Aug 15th, my daughter and I had spoken with a terrific woman at the front desk (from Spain) who was very cheery and very helpful. I didn't find the other staff to be at all like her. For breakfast one morning, we waited to be seated and waited until we finally sat down. Someone did ask if we wanted tea or coffee but after delivering it in a hurry didn't ask if we wanted anything from the menu. I also wasn't sure what was included in my full breakfast. No one ever did explain (and with other people at tables very close to us) I felt embarrassed to ask. I'm guessing there was a staff shortage that day? I ended up having a very nice breakfast from the other area. No complaints about the food. One morning I got into the elevator and it stopped between floors and that was a little disconcerting however the voice in the elevator instructed me to go to the ground floor which I did and it let me out. When I was checking out at the end of our four night stay, I was going to be charged again for that 2nd person in my room but the two people at the front desk said it was fine when I told them I'd already discussed this yesterday with someone. Needless to say, this has left a somewhat bad taste in my mouth and I will hopefully never have to stay at this hotel again. They way staff handles situations can make or break an organisation. I've always been taught, and have put into action, that the customer is always right as I have been in the customer service industry for many years. Best regards, Barb"
