"While the location, across the street and down the block from the chateau Fontainebleau is excellent, the hotel badly needs a makeover. The hotel has a very nice marble foyer but the desk clerk had a dismissive attitude with my wife and I. At first I thought it was because we were underdressed or beneath the usual clientele, (we were casually dressed, but not in shorts or sandals), but after seeing the quality of the hotel, we figured the employees are just upset with having to work at such a dumpy hotel. I find old architecture and rustic furnishings charming, but this place hasn't seen a facilities maintenance staff since the revolution. The walls were so gouged, scratched and full of holes that it looked like Napolean's army had a rum party in the place, swordplay allowed. A loose tile in the bathroom floor had the potential to slice our bare feet to ribbons, if we hadn't carefully stepped around it each time we went into the bathroom. I would have put it to one side, but it was so mildewed underneath the tile that I kept it covered for fear of my wife refusing to use the bathroom at all. All in all, it was an expensive, disappointing experience that didn't live up to it's hype."

"No car park - which is a nghtmare on a touring holiday. The hotel DID have a good restaurar, however. Room was quite small at the price."

"Parking convenient to hotels is always a problem in Fontainebleau, especially on the weekends. This hotel is on the main street near the chateau so it was probably a little more difficult to find than usual. If a person has an afternoon flight out of Orly or Roissy this makes an enjoyable place to spend the last night in France. Joan"
