"The staff from the restaurant (there was only one, not three as advertised) and the spa, rooms etc were extremely pleasant, well-trained and obliging. The expatriate manager made an appearance on one day out of our week's stay and spent the entire time with his mobile 'phone attached to his ear, and did not talk to any guests. The F&B manager was the only one with any interest in guests. The Front Office staff were instructed by an "invisible" accountant that the Hong Kong dollar was "not a recognisible currency" and therefore, could not be changed. The hotel refused to go to the Bank of Ceylon to change HK dollars ("this is not our bank", we were told). We were forced to hire an hotel vehicle to make a 15-minute journey to a Bank of Ceylon branch to change the money ourselves. Having stayed at Banyan Trees elsewhere, and utilised Angsana spa facilities, this hotel was extremely disappointing and we cut short our stay by three nights. Angsana should think very seriously about how this hotel is managed, the paucity of facilities available (why nothing for kids?) and the fact that its beautiful spa is ruined by being situated adjacent to a noisy road!"
